In a significant anti-encroachment drive, the administration in Badi Zameen village, Goradih block, Bhagalpur district, demolished four illegal houses built on government land. The action took place on October 30, 2026, under the leadership of Circle Officer Kumar Shivam, with the presence of administrative officials and police.

According to the administration, five permanent houses were identified as encroachments on government land, and notices were issued to their occupants. However, one of these houses belonged to a landless and impoverished family, which was spared on humanitarian grounds. The Circle Officer stated that the complainant, Balkrishna, had applied for the removal of encroachment two years ago. Despite several legal notices issued to vacate the land, the occupants failed to comply within the stipulated time, leading to the demolition.
