Residents of Ward No. 4 in Rauna Panchayat, Guraru block, Gaya district, staged a unique protest on Sunday at 12 PM against the dilapidated condition of their road. Frustrated by the neglect, villagers planted paddy saplings in the large potholes and muddy stretches of the road to express their strong resentment towards local public representatives and the administration.

Villagers highlighted that the road's condition deteriorates significantly during the monsoon season. Accumulation of water and mud at various spots makes commuting extremely difficult. School children face considerable hardship in reaching school daily due to this route. Furthermore, in the unfortunate event of a death in the village, carrying the deceased to the cremation ground becomes a major challenge for family members and villagers, as they navigate through mud and potholes.

The residents accused their elected representatives of seeking votes during elections but neglecting basic village problems once in power. They also voiced their anger towards the local MLA and MP. Villagers stated that this issue has persisted for a long time, yet no concrete steps have been taken to address it. By planting paddy, the villagers aimed to draw the attention of responsible officials and public representatives, demanding immediate construction or repair of the road. Several villagers, including Awadhesh Paswan, Mohammad Shahnawaz, Gautam Paswan, Vijay Paswan, and Jamila Khatoon, participated in the protest.
