The rising water level of the Ganga River has caused significant devastation in Khargpur village, Desri block, Vaishali district, Bihar. A large number of houses in the village have been submerged as Ganga waters have inundated the area. The situation is dire, with approximately 104 families forced to abandon their homes and live in makeshift tent-like shelters on the embankment for the past eight days.

According to villagers, the water level of the Ganga River rose sharply on the night of August 19. Within a short period, floodwaters began entering homes in Khargpur village. Witnessing the rising water, residents, along with their children, elderly, and livestock, moved to higher ground. With their village submerged, these families have made the embankment their temporary refuge, constructing shelters from plastic and tarpaulin, where they have been residing for over a week under difficult conditions.

Flood victims allege that despite eight days passing, they have received no substantial assistance from the district administration. People are facing severe shortages of food, essential supplies, and clean drinking water. Villagers report that young children and the elderly are suffering the most, and living in the open has increased the risk of diseases. Arranging fodder for livestock has also become a major challenge.

The affected residents have appealed to local public representatives and the district administration for immediate provision of relief materials. Their demands include food, drinking water, essential facilities for children and the elderly, and the establishment of health camps. Villagers state that they cannot return to their homes due to the inundation and fear that if the Ganga's water level rises further, even their temporary shelters on the embankment could be jeopardized. Currently, deep concern prevails among the residents of Khargpur village regarding the flood situation, and they are hoping for prompt relief and rescue operations from the administration.
