A junior engineer (JE), Amit Kumar, posted in Imamganj block of Gaya district, has been suspended following serious allegations of illegal extortion. He is accused of extorting ₹20,000 via UPI. This action was taken after a complaint was lodged with the department, and initial investigations confirmed the allegations.

According to sources, Amit Kumar was serving as a junior engineer in Imamganj block. A complaint was filed against him by an individual stating that the JE had demanded ₹20,000 illegally and forced him to pay via UPI. Taking the complaint seriously, the department immediately ordered an inquiry.

During the investigation, evidence presented by the complainant and details of the UPI transaction were scrutinized. Investigators found that JE Amit Kumar had indeed received ₹20,000 from the complainant through UPI. This constituted a clear case of misuse of public office and illegal extortion.

After the preliminary investigation confirmed the allegations, the department decided to suspend Amit Kumar with immediate effect. During the suspension period, he has been directed to report to the headquarters and cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
