In Fatehpur block of Gaya district, the Chief Minister Rural Drinking Water Supply Scheme (Nal-Jal Yojana) remains incomplete in wards 4 and 5, forcing villagers to consume contaminated water. Angered by this issue, residents staged a protest on Saturday, raising their voices against government apathy. Villagers stated that although pipelines have been laid under the scheme, many homes are not receiving water supply. Where water is available, it is contaminated and unfit for drinking.

Despite repeated complaints, concerned officials and local representatives have not addressed this serious problem. The primary objective of the Nal-Jal scheme is to provide clean drinking water to every household, but in Fatehpur, it has failed to achieve its purpose. This has led to deep resentment among the villagers. From children to the elderly, everyone is compelled to drink contaminated water, increasing the risk of waterborne diseases.

During the protest, villagers demanded that the government and administration complete the scheme and provide clean drinking water as soon as possible. They warned of larger protests if their demands are not met promptly. Villagers allege irregularities in the scheme's implementation, which is why the work has not been completed to date. They also demanded an investigation and action against those responsible. Local residents emphasized that clean water is their fundamental right, and the government must ensure it. This issue forces them to fetch water from long distances, wasting both time and energy.
