पूर्णिया जिले के धमदाहा प्रखंड में बिजली की अनियमित और बेहद खराब आपूर्ति से परेशान स्थानीय उपभोक्ताओं ने बुधवार को धमदाहा-बिहारीगंज मुख्य मार्ग को चार घंटे तक जाम कर दिया। इस विरोध प्रदर्शन के कारण सड़क के दोनों ओर वाहनों की लंबी कतारें लग गईं, जिससे यात्रियों को भारी परेशानी का सामना करना पड़ा।
प्रदर्शनकारियों का कहना था कि पिछले कई दिनों से क्षेत्र में बिजली की स्थिति इतनी खराब है कि मुश्किल से दो से तीन घंटे ही बिजली मिल पा रही है। दिन हो या रात, बिजली कब कटेगी और कब आएगी, इसका कोई निश्चित समय नहीं है। इस अनियमितता के कारण गर्मी और उमस से लोगों का जीना मुहाल हो गया है। बच्चों की पढ़ाई बाधित हो रही है, घरों में पानी की किल्लत हो गई है क्योंकि मोटर नहीं चल पा रहे हैं, और छोटे व्यवसायी भी परेशान हैं।
स्थानीय निवासियों ने बताया कि बिजली विभाग के अधिकारियों से कई बार शिकायत की गई, लेकिन उनकी समस्याओं पर कोई ध्यान नहीं दिया गया। बार-बार आश्वासन देने के बावजूद स्थिति में कोई सुधार नहीं हुआ, जिसके बाद मजबूरन उन्हें सड़क पर उतरना पड़ा। सुबह करीब 9 बजे शुरू हुआ यह जाम दोपहर 1 बजे तक चला। प्रदर्शनकारियों में बड़ी संख्या में महिलाएं और पुरुष शामिल थे, जो बिजली विभाग और सरकार के खिलाफ नारे लगा रहे थे।
प्रदर्शन की सूचना मिलते ही धमदाहा थाना पुलिस और बिजली विभाग के अधिकारी मौके पर पहुंचे। उन्होंने प्रदर्शनकारियों को समझाने-बुझाने का प्रयास किया और जल्द से जल्द बिजली आपूर्ति में सुधार का आश्वासन दिया। अधिकारियों के ठोस आश्वासन के बाद ही प्रदर्शनकारियों ने जाम समाप्त किया। हालांकि, स्थानीय लोगों ने चेतावनी दी है कि यदि स्थिति में जल्द सुधार नहीं हुआ तो वे फिर से आंदोलन करने को मजबूर होंगे।
Residents of Dhamdaha block in Purnia district, frustrated by irregular and poor power supply, blocked the Dhamdaha-Bihariganj main road for four hours on Wednesday. The protest caused long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road, leading to significant inconvenience for commuters.
The protestors stated that the power situation in the area has been dire for several days, with electricity available for barely two to three hours daily. There is no fixed schedule for power cuts, making life difficult amidst the heat and humidity. Children's studies are disrupted, households face water shortages as motors cannot run, and small businesses are struggling.
Local residents reported that despite numerous complaints to electricity department officials, their concerns were ignored. Repeated assurances failed to improve the situation, forcing them to resort to a road blockade. The protest, which began around 9 AM, continued until 1 PM. A large number of men and women participated, shouting slogans against the electricity department and the government.
Upon receiving information about the protest, Dhamdaha police and electricity department officials arrived at the scene. They attempted to pacify the protestors and assured them of immediate improvements in power supply. Only after concrete assurances from the officials did the protestors lift the blockade. However, locals warned that if the situation does not improve soon, they would be forced to agitate again.
