In a significant operation, police in Jagdishpur, Bhojpur district, seized 99 bottles of foreign liquor following a tip-off. The liquor smuggler, however, managed to evade arrest by abandoning his motorcycle and fleeing the scene. The incident occurred near Kalyani village within the Jagdishpur police station area.

Acting on intelligence about an individual involved in illegal liquor smuggling, a police team led by Jagdishpur Station House Officer (SHO) Sanjay Kumar Singh launched a raid. As the team approached Kalyani village, they spotted a suspicious motorcyclist. Upon seeing the police, the smuggler panicked, abandoned his bike, and escaped under the cover of darkness.

Upon inspecting the abandoned motorcycle, police discovered 99 bottles of foreign liquor, including Royal Stag and Imperial Blue brands, hidden in a sack. The total volume of the seized liquor is approximately 18.25 liters.

The police have confiscated both the liquor and the motorcycle. SHO Sanjay Kumar Singh stated that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the absconding smuggler based on the motorcycle's registration number. An FIR has been registered against an unknown person at Jagdishpur police station, and further investigation is ongoing. This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in curbing illegal liquor trade in Bihar, despite the state's prohibition laws.
