The Jamalpur Loco Shed has achieved a significant milestone in the modernization of Indian Railways by successfully installing an air conditioner (AC) in a WAG-7 class freight locomotive. This accomplishment brings pride to the Malda Division of Eastern Railway, marking a notable step forward in enhancing working conditions for loco pilots.

According to railway sources, this is the first instance in the country where an AC unit has been fitted into a WAG-7 engine. The locomotive, bearing the number 27150, underwent this modernization at the Jamalpur Loco Shed. The primary objective behind this initiative is to provide loco pilots with a more comfortable and conducive working environment. The AC system will regulate the temperature inside the engine, offering relief to the crew, especially during hot and humid weather, thereby enabling them to perform their duties more efficiently.
