The Bihar government's Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department has implemented a paperless land and flat registration facility in Jehanabad district, making the process significantly easier and more transparent. This secure and transparent registration system was launched in the district on July 18.

Through the e-registration portal, residents can now independently feed their land registration documents online. A dedicated help desk established at the registration office is proving to be a great support for the district's residents in this paperless initiative. Staff at the help desk provide full assistance, which has already resulted in revenue collection of over Rs 29.58 lakh from 33 documents. Residents report that the paperless system has brought transparency to land transactions, enabling them to buy and sell land without the need for traditional deed writers (vasikanavis).

Should any issues arise while preparing land registration documents, the help desk staff are available to assist. Now, buyers and sellers only need to appear before the officer for agreement. The officer verifies the documents of both parties online and completes the land registration process.

The government has also licensed vasikanavis as service providers for online land registration. Approximately 47 vasikanavis and advocates in the district have received this license, allowing them to facilitate online registration for interested buyers and sellers. Stamp papers required for registration are also available online, eliminating the need for separate physical stamp papers. Sub-Registrar Rishi Kumar Sinha and Office Superintendent Naveen Ranjan stated that this new system has been implemented as per government directives, ensuring that residents no longer need various documents for land registration, only their presence for the agreement.
