A violent incident of firing has been reported in Jehanabad district, Bihar, stemming from a dispute over sand mining. Six individuals sustained bullet injuries in the clash, with one person in critical condition being referred to Patna for advanced medical treatment. The incident is believed to be a result of a power struggle between rival sand mafias.

According to police sources, the altercation occurred in an area known for extensive illegal sand mining activities. A long-standing dispute between two factions over sand contracts and control of mining areas escalated late Wednesday night. The groups confronted each other, leading to indiscriminate firing. Several victims suffered gunshot wounds to their legs, abdomen, and chest.

Following initial treatment at a local hospital, one critically injured person was transferred to a major hospital in Patna. Their condition is currently stable, but still considered serious. Local police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, recovering spent cartridges and initiating an investigation. The Superintendent of Police stated that several suspects have been identified, and raids are underway for their apprehension. Authorities have also vowed to intensify their crackdown on illegal sand mining to prevent future occurrences of such violence, highlighting the pervasive issue of illegal mining and associated criminal elements in the district.
