The Jonty Memorial Cricket Tournament has grandly commenced in Malti village, Asthawan block, Nalanda. The tournament was inaugurated on Sunday, witnessing immense enthusiasm from local sports lovers and players. In the first match, the Asthawan Ahiran team delivered a stellar performance and secured a victory. This tournament is being organized in memory of the late Jonty, who was known for his passion for cricket and sportsmanship.

The tournament was inaugurated by Shri Ravishankar Prasad, the Mukhiya representative of Malti Panchayat, who cut the ribbon. Addressing the players on this occasion, he stated that sports instill discipline, teamwork, and a spirit of healthy competition in our lives. He encouraged the players to play with sportsmanship and showcase their talent. Shri Prasad praised the organizers, saying that such events play a vital role in promoting sports in rural areas and connecting youth with positive activities.

The inaugural match was played between Asthawan Ahiran and another local team. Asthawan Ahiran won the toss and chose to bat first, setting a challenging score in the allotted overs. Chasing the target, the opposing team struggled, and Asthawan Ahiran's bowlers delivered tight spells, preventing them from achieving victory. Asthawan Ahiran won the match in an exciting manner. A large number of spectators were present during the match, cheering on the players.

Members of the organizing committee informed that teams from several nearby villages are participating in the tournament.
