बिहार के कैमूर जिले में कृषि विभाग ने किसानों की आय बढ़ाने और पानी की बचत के उद्देश्य से एक महत्वाकांक्षी योजना शुरू की है। इस योजना के तहत, जिले के 500 किसानों को मिलेट्स (मोटे अनाज) की खेती से जोड़ा जाएगा। यह पहल किसानों को कम पानी में खेती करने और उत्पादों के वैल्यू एडिशन के माध्यम से अधिक लाभ कमाने में मदद करेगी।
कृषि विभाग के अधिकारियों के अनुसार, इस परियोजना का मुख्य लक्ष्य किसानों को पारंपरिक धान और गेहूं की खेती के अलावा अन्य विकल्पों की ओर आकर्षित करना है, जो जलवायु परिवर्तन के प्रभावों को झेलने में सक्षम हों। मिलेट्स जैसे बाजरा, ज्वार, रागी आदि कम पानी में उगते हैं और पोषक तत्वों से भरपूर होते हैं। इनकी खेती से न केवल पानी की बचत होगी, बल्कि मिट्टी की उर्वरता भी बनी रहेगी।
इस योजना के तहत, किसानों को मिलेट्स की उन्नत किस्मों के बीज उपलब्ध कराए जाएंगे और उन्हें वैज्ञानिक तरीकों से खेती करने का प्रशिक्षण भी दिया जाएगा। प्रशिक्षण में बुवाई से लेकर कटाई और प्रसंस्करण तक की जानकारी शामिल होगी। इसके अलावा, एक किसान उत्पादक संगठन (FPO) का गठन किया जाएगा। यह FPO किसानों को एक साथ लाकर उनकी उपज को बेहतर कीमत पर बेचने में मदद करेगा और उन्हें बाजार तक सीधी पहुंच प्रदान करेगा। FPO के माध्यम से, किसान अपने उत्पादों का वैल्यू एडिशन भी कर सकेंगे, जैसे मिलेट्स से आटा, दलिया, बिस्कुट आदि बनाकर बेच सकेंगे, जिससे उनकी आय में और वृद्धि होगी।
कृषि विभाग का मानना है कि इस पहल से कैमूर के किसानों की आर्थिक स्थिति में सुधार होगा और वे आत्मनिर्भर बन सकेंगे। यह योजना न केवल स्थानीय कृषि अर्थव्यवस्था को मजबूत करेगी, बल्कि राज्य में मिलेट्स के उत्पादन और खपत को भी बढ़ावा देगी, जो पोषण सुरक्षा की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम है। इस पायलट प्रोजेक्ट की सफलता के बाद इसे राज्य के अन्य जिलों में भी लागू करने पर विचार किया जा सकता है।
The agriculture department in Bihar's Kaimur district has launched an ambitious scheme to boost farmers' income and conserve water. Under this initiative, 500 farmers in the district will be integrated into millet cultivation. According to agriculture department officials, the primary goal is to encourage farmers to diversify from traditional paddy and wheat cultivation towards climate-resilient alternatives. Farmers will receive improved millet seeds and training on scientific farming methods, covering everything from sowing to harvesting and processing. Furthermore, a Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) will be established. This FPO will unite farmers, help them sell their produce at better prices, and provide direct market access. Through the FPO, farmers can also add value to their products, for example, by making flour, porridge, or biscuits from millets, further increasing their income.
The agriculture department believes this initiative will improve the economic condition of Kaimur's farmers and make them self-reliant. This scheme will strengthen the local agricultural economy and promote millet production and consumption in the state, a significant step towards nutritional security. Following the success of this pilot project, it may be replicated in other districts of the state.
