Villagers in Kalyanpur block, Samastipur district, blocked the Pusa-Kalyanpur main road near Mohanpur village on Monday. The protest stemmed from allegations of irregularities and substandard work in the ongoing road repair project from Tara to Mohanpur. Local residents Shiv Kumar Rajak and Alok Kumar Goswami stated that the road had been in disrepair for a long time, with large potholes leading to frequent accidents.

The Road Construction Department had initiated repairs following instructions from MP Shambhavi Choudhary. During the repair work on Monday, villagers requested the workers to also fix the potholes along the side of the road. However, the workers refused, citing that pitching could not be done directly on loose soil. Enraged by this, the villagers halted the work and blocked the road.

The road blockade caused long queues of vehicles on both sides, bringing traffic to a standstill. After approximately an hour and a half, the police arrived at the scene. The villagers lifted the blockade following assurances from the police. Kalyanpur Station House Officer Ranbir Kumar Rawat confirmed that the police intervened and cleared the jam.
