The 'Police Didi Patrolling Team' (Abhaya Brigade) has been launched in Khagaria district with the aim of strengthening the safety and security of women and girls. On the occasion of Rakshabandhan, Superintendent of Police Bhanu Pratap Singh flagged off the patrolling team from the Police Line, Khagaria, on Friday.

SP Bhanu Pratap Singh instructed the women police personnel to work with utmost sensitivity for the safety, awareness, and assistance of women and girls. He emphasized establishing better coordination with the general public to create a safe environment. The SP informed that, as per the Chief Minister's directives, 4700 scooties and bikes have been provided across the state to enhance women's safety. In line with this initiative, the Abhaya Brigade has been activated in Khagaria, with its primary objective being to provide immediate assistance to women in distress.

This team will regularly patrol schools, colleges, coaching institutes, markets, malls, secluded areas, and other sensitive locations. This initiative is expected to boost confidence in safety among female students and women, and effectively curb anti-social elements. SP Singh issued a strong warning to miscreants and eve-teasers, stating that the Abhaya Brigade would keep a close watch on them.

The Police Didi team will coordinate with the 112 emergency service and local police to take immediate action. If necessary, an FIR will be registered, and the accused will be sent to jail. SP Bhanu Pratap Singh reiterated that the safety of women and girls is among the police's top priorities. The Abhaya Brigade's goal is not just to patrol but also to strengthen the sense of security among women and students, ensuring they receive timely police assistance in any trouble.
