The Bochahan unit of Kisan Mahasabha in Muzaffarpur district burned an effigy of the Prime Minister on Sunday evening, commemorating August 9th Kranti Diwas. The protest was organized to voice opposition against the anti-farmer policies of both the central and state governments.

Earlier, dozens of Kisan Mahasabha leaders and workers marched in a procession from the Bochahan Male Block office, carrying flags, banners, and the effigy. The procession passed through various routes before reaching New Market Chowk, where activists held a street corner meeting, followed by the effigy burning.

Bindeshwar Sah, a state council member of Kisan Mahasabha, presided over the meeting. He alleged that the central government is implementing policies detrimental to farmers' interests. He further claimed that while the central government is engaging in agricultural trade agreements with the US, the BJP government in Bihar is preparing to acquire farmers' land to hand over to corporate houses.

Ram Balak Sahni, Male Block Secretary, highlighted that the central government had promised to double farmers' income by 2022. However, farmers have yet to receive legal guarantee for MSP based on the C2 plus 50 percent formula. He also demanded that the government waive all farmers' debts. During the protest, Kisan Mahasabha leaders and workers chanted slogans against the government. Dozens of activists, including Indrajit Kumar Bablu, Lakshmi Mandal, Manju Devi, Ramnath Shah, Avinash Shahi, and Ram Iqbal Thakur, participated in the demonstration.
