Kishanganj police have made a significant breakthrough in a drug trafficking case, arresting two peddlers and seizing 200 grams of heroin. The confiscated heroin is estimated to be worth approximately 40 lakh rupees in the international market. Police received a tip-off that a drug trafficking syndicate was bringing a large consignment of heroin from Malda, West Bengal, through Kishanganj.

Acting on this intelligence, a special joint team comprising DIB, ANTF, and Kishanganj police station personnel was formed under the leadership of Sub-Divisional Police Officer-2 Manoj Kumar. The team initiated a vehicle checking drive near the Kishanganj Bus Stand. Two young men who alighted from a bus coming from Malda attempted to flee upon seeing the police, but were apprehended after a swift encirclement.

The arrested peddlers have been identified as Munna alias Mohammad Zamir (23) and Sohaib Alam (24), both residents of Bahadurganj. Police recovered 200 grams of heroin and a mobile phone from their possession. During interrogation, the accused confessed to operating a syndicate for the purchase and sale of heroin, with plans to bring the drug from Malda and distribute it in Kishanganj and surrounding areas.

Raids are currently underway to apprehend other traffickers involved in this racket from West Bengal and Bahadurganj. A case (No. 868/26) has been registered under the NDPS Act at Kishanganj police station. Authorities also stated that the illegal assets of the accused would be identified and seized. The operation involved SDPO Manoj Kumar along with Mustaq Alam, Inspector Raju Kumar, Mukesh Kumar, and teams from ANTF and DIB.
