A citizenship camp has been inaugurated in Kishanganj district, aiming to provide eligible individuals with the opportunity to apply for Indian citizenship. The camp has already received a total of 53 applications, including those from women of Nepali origin. This camp will continue until July 22, allowing ample time for all eligible individuals who wish to obtain Indian citizenship.

Organized by the district administration, this initiative specifically targets individuals who have been residing in India for a long time and meet the necessary eligibility criteria for Indian citizenship. This includes those who have married Indian citizens or whose ancestors were Indian but could not obtain citizenship for various reasons. From the very first day, enthusiasm was observed among the public, with a large number of people arriving to understand the application process and fill out forms.

Officials stated that special arrangements have been made to simplify and make the application process accessible. Applicants have been advised to bring all necessary documents such as identity proof, residence proof, marriage certificates (if applicable), and other relevant papers. Officers present at the camp are assisting applicants with form filling and document verification to ensure a smooth process.

The primary objective of this camp is to grant Indian citizenship to those who are legally entitled to it, especially those living in border areas whose citizenship status is unclear. The number of applications from Nepali women indicates that there are many such cases in border areas where citizenship issues remain unresolved even after marriage. This camp will play a crucial role in resolving these problems and granting recognition to eligible individuals as citizens of India. The administration has appealed to all eligible persons to take advantage of this opportunity and submit their applications by July 22.
