Kishanganj Police have successfully busted a major interstate theft gang, leading to the arrest of one accused from West Bengal. This breakthrough has helped unravel several theft cases reported in the district. A special team, formed under the directives of the Superintendent of Police, carried out the operation based on confidential information.

According to police sources, this gang was active not only in Bihar's Kishanganj district but also in West Bengal and other neighboring states. The gang members primarily targeted deserted houses and shops, especially in areas with lax security. After committing thefts, they would quickly move to other states to dispose of stolen goods, making it challenging for the police to apprehend them.

In recent times, Kishanganj district had witnessed a surge in theft incidents, creating an atmosphere of fear among local residents. Taking these incidents seriously, the Superintendent of Police constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to solve these cases and apprehend the culprits. The SIT, utilizing technical surveillance and intelligence from informants, successfully identified members of this gang.

Acting on a tip-off in West Bengal, the raiding team apprehended one member of the gang. During interrogation, the arrested accused confessed his involvement in several theft incidents in Kishanganj district. Police are currently conducting intensive interrogations to identify other gang members and recover stolen property. This arrest is expected to lead to the disclosure of more theft cases and the apprehension of other gang members soon. The police have also appealed to the public to report any suspicious activities immediately to help curb crime.
