Police have arrested a man from Ghaziabad in connection with a fraud case where a resident of Bakhtiyarpur, Patna, was duped of ₹8.26 lakh under the pretext of securing study and job opportunities in London. The arrest was made through a joint operation by Bakhtiyarpur police station and the Patna Cyber Cell. The arrested accused has been identified as Amit Kumar, a resident of Roopnagar, Loni police station area, Ghaziabad.

According to the information, a Bakhtiyarpur resident had filed a complaint stating that Amit Kumar lured him with promises of study and job prospects in London. Falling for the deception, the victim transferred a total of ₹8.26 lakh in several installments to the accused's account. When neither the study opportunity nor the job materialized, the victim realized he had been defrauded. Subsequently, he lodged an FIR at Bakhtiyarpur police station.

Considering the gravity of the case, Bakhtiyarpur police sought assistance from the Patna Cyber Cell. The Cyber Cell investigated technical aspects and traced the accused's location. Upon receiving the information, the investigating officer and a police team from Bakhtiyarpur police station proceeded to Ghaziabad. With the cooperation of local police, accused Amit Kumar was arrested from his residence. The police also recovered a mobile phone and two SIM cards from the accused, which he reportedly used for the fraud.

During interrogation, Amit Kumar confessed to his crime. He has been brought to Bakhtiyarpur from Ghaziabad, and further legal action is underway. The police have urged the public to be vigilant against such fraudsters and not to lose their hard-earned money by falling for the traps of unknown individuals. They specifically advised extreme caution in cases involving promises of overseas study or jobs and urged thorough verification of any suspicious offers.
