Police in Bihar's Madhepura district arrested two youths on Wednesday from the Biharihanj police station area, recovering smack and a country-made pistol from their possession. The seized items include 5.41 grams of suspected smack and one country-made firearm. The arrested individuals have been identified as Suraj Thakur (32) and Sujit Kumar (26), both residents of Manjaura Ward No.-06, sons of Vilash Thakur.

The arrests were made during a raid by a police team led by Sub-Inspector Manoj Kumar, which was investigating illegal drug trafficking during the Durga Puja festivities. The team received intelligence that two youths near Manjaura Bazar had concealed narcotics and weapons in their house. Acting on this tip-off, the police informed the Circle Officer and proceeded to the location. Upon seeing the police, both suspects attempted to flee but were apprehended by the armed police force.

During the search, a polythene packet containing 5.41 grams of suspected smack and a country-made pistol wrapped in cloth were found. The police immediately arrested both accused and seized the recovered items. Cases have been registered against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Arms Act. Biharihanj Station House Officer Lavkush Kumar stated that after completing the necessary paperwork, both accused have been sent to judicial custody.
