A 22-year-old woman, Kajal, was brutally stabbed to death in Sarvsima village, under Bhairavasthan police station area in Madhubani district, on Monday night. Kajal, originally from Ujan Sonpur Ujan village in Darbhanga district, had entered into a love marriage just three months ago. Her mother, Durga Devi, has filed an FIR against Jatin Chaudhary alias Vipul Chaudhary and Rohit Yadav, both residents of the same village.

According to Durga Devi's complaint, the accused first assaulted her with a stick and verbally abused her in her courtyard around 2 PM on Monday. They fled when a neighbor approached. Later that night, around 9 PM, the two accused returned to Durga Devi's house. Rohit Yadav allegedly assaulted Durga Devi, while Vipul Chaudhary repeatedly stabbed her daughter, Kajal Kumari, leaving her critically injured. Neighbors rushed to the scene after hearing screams, and the assailants escaped on a black motorcycle. Kajal was immediately taken to Sadar Hospital, Madhubani, where doctors declared her dead.

Kajal's husband, Shivam Rai, stated that the accused, Vipul Chaudhary, was his friend. Shivam had purchased a motorcycle in Vipul's name and paid the down payment. Kajal had recently given Vipul Rs 10,000 for the bike's first installment, but Vipul allegedly spent the money elsewhere and demanded more from her, leading to a dispute. Shivam also revealed that Vipul sent him a voice message informing him of his wife's murder. The police have registered a case based on the mother's statement and have initiated an investigation.
