Heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds lashed Mahishi block in Saharsa district on Wednesday, causing significant damage to the standing maize crop. Farmers are now facing the prospect of substantial economic losses as their ready-to-harvest maize fields have been flattened by the severe weather.

According to local farmers, the sudden storm has ruined their hard work. Many maize plants have been uprooted, and corn cobs have broken off in several areas. Those who had not yet harvested their crop are expected to suffer even greater losses. Maize is a crucial cash crop for the region, and this damage will directly impact the livelihoods of many agricultural families.

Farmers explained that the maize crop was in its final stages of harvesting.
