A tragic road accident occurred on Saturday at 11 AM on the Tajpur-Vyapur road in Maner police station area. An uncontrolled auto-rickshaw overturned into a water-filled pothole, leading to the electrocution of three individuals, including the driver. The deceased have been identified as 47-year-old auto driver Tuntun Kumar (resident of Vyapur Bhunna Tola), 34-year-old Pramod Rai (resident of Vyapur Tata Colony), and 61-year-old Panna Saw (resident of Goraiya Sthan).

According to eyewitnesses, the speeding auto lost control near the Panchayat Sarkar Bhawan and plunged into a water-filled ditch by the roadside. A live electricity wire had fallen into the ditch, and upon contact, the auto became electrified, causing panic among the passengers. On hearing the commotion, villagers promptly intervened, removing the live wire with great effort and pulling everyone out. One person was seriously injured in the accident, while Pappu, Upendra, and four other occupants of the auto were safely rescued by the villagers.

Upon receiving the information, Maner Police Station SI Afsar Ali, along with police personnel, arrived at the scene. The police took the bodies into custody, sent them for post-mortem examination at the sub-divisional hospital, and later handed them over to their families. A pall of gloom has descended over the entire area following the accident, and the families of the deceased are in deep distress. The police are currently investigating the matter.
