A significant boost for Bihar's Kosi region, the project to double-track the Mansi-Saharsa railway line has received approval, with an estimated cost of ₹499 crore. This crucial development is set to enhance rail transport capacity significantly in the region, benefiting both freight and passenger services.

Spanning 45 kilometers under the East Central Railway jurisdiction, the doubling work is expected to commence soon. This project aims to alleviate traffic bottlenecks and accelerate the economic development of the Kosi region. Currently, it operates as a single-track line, often leading to delays due to train crossings. The double track will reduce travel times and improve operational efficiency.

The primary objective of this project is to create additional freight carrying capacity. It is estimated that once the double track is operational, the section will be able to transport an additional 1.764 million tons of freight annually. This capacity enhancement will be a boon for industries and agricultural produce, directly benefiting the local economy. Farmers and traders will find it easier to transport their goods to markets, potentially increasing their income.

Furthermore, passengers will experience considerable advantages. The punctuality of trains will improve, and travel times will be reduced.
