The body of 22-year-old Reshma Khatoon, who had been missing for three days from Station Road, Ward No. 10, under Chanpatia police station, was found on Friday in a pond located near a high school, approximately 400 meters from her home. Upon receiving the information, hundreds of villagers gathered at the scene. The police arrived promptly, retrieved the body from the pond, and sent it to GMCH, Bettiah, for post-mortem examination.

Reshma was the unmarried daughter of Anwar Qureshi, a resident of Station Road, Ward No. 10. According to her family, Reshma suddenly disappeared from home on the evening of September 23. The family extensively searched for her, including on social media, but found no trace. Subsequently, Reshma's father filed a missing person complaint at Chanpatia police station. As per the FIR, the young woman had been suffering from a mental health condition for several years and was undergoing treatment. Station House Officer Anjan Kumar stated that a missing person report was filed based on the father's complaint, and an investigation was ongoing. Further action is being taken following the discovery of the body.
