MIT Muzaffarpur: 15 Students Noticed in Assault Case, to Appear Before Disciplinary Committee Today
Investigations have intensified following an assault case between B.Tech and Pharmacy students at Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology (MIT) on Friday. On Sunday, a team from Brahmapura police station visited the campus and gathered information from students, including those residing in the hostel.
During the inquiry, it was revealed that some students' mobile phones were left behind in the hostel during the altercation. These students were seen roaming the campus on Sunday to retrieve their phones, prompting police questioning after a complaint was filed.
The incident will be presented before the college's disciplinary committee. Approximately 15 identified students were issued notices on Monday, requiring them to appear before the committee today (Tuesday). Six of these students have reportedly been identified. The committee will take action against those found guilty after a hearing. It was also noted that the student who was assaulted does not permanently reside in the hostel but visits frequently.
Over the past two months, MIT has seen several incidents, including assaults and ragging. Currently, three such cases are pending before the disciplinary committee, and the college administration will hold hearings and take action. Provisions range from assigning 'black dots' to imposing financial penalties.
