In a significant announcement for the Kharagpur sub-division of Munger district, Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has declared that the sacred waters of the Ganga River will soon reach Kharagpur Lake. A substantial budget of ₹190 crore has been approved to bring this ambitious project to fruition. The Chief Minister stated that the primary objective of this initiative is to augment the water level of Kharagpur Lake and provide a permanent solution to the water scarcity issues in the region.

Kharagpur Lake, a vital water source in Munger district, frequently faces water shortages, especially during the summer months. The diversion of Ganga water to the lake is expected to not only improve the lake's ecosystem but also ensure the availability of water for agriculture and drinking purposes in the surrounding areas. The Chief Minister highlighted that this project is an extension of the 'Har Ghar Gangajal' scheme, which aims to deliver Ganga water to various drought-prone and water-stressed regions across the state.

Under this project, water from the Ganga River will be lifted and transported to Kharagpur Lake. The construction of necessary pipelines and pumping stations will commence swiftly. Chief Minister Chaudhary has instructed officials to complete the project within a stipulated timeframe to ensure that the residents of the area benefit as soon as possible.
