A tragic incident occurred on Friday evening in the Sahebganj police station area of Muzaffarpur district, where a 25-year-old youth drowned in a canal. The incident took place in the canal channel of Jagdishpur village, under Jagdishpur Panchayat in Sahebganj block. The deceased has been identified as Mantosh Kumar Das, son of Dev Narayan Das. Mantosh was the only son in his family, and his untimely death has plunged the family into deep sorrow. His relatives are inconsolable, and a pall of gloom has descended upon the village.

According to reports, Mantosh Kumar had gone to bathe in the Jagdishpur canal channel around 5 PM on Friday. While bathing, he suddenly went into deep water and drowned. Villagers immediately launched efforts to rescue him, but after several hours of struggle, his body was recovered from the canal around 9 PM. Villagers stated that he had already passed away before being pulled out of the water.

Mantosh was the sole son of his parents and had two married sisters. This tragic news has brought immense grief to the family. Upon receiving information about the incident, Sahebganj police reached the spot. With the help of villagers, the body was retrieved from the canal. The police have initiated the process of sending the body for post-mortem examination to SKMCH. According to the police, preliminary findings suggest the youth died due to drowning. Further necessary action is being taken by the police.
