A major accident occurred late Sunday night in the Turki police station area of Muzaffarpur district, Bihar. A speeding Dial 112 police vehicle lost control and ran over Kanwariyas sleeping on the roadside along the Kanwariya path near the Turki overbridge on the Muzaffarpur-Patna NH. One Kanwariya was seriously injured in the incident, causing panic at the scene.

According to eyewitnesses, despite being stopped from entering the lane reserved for Kanwariyas, the Dial 112 vehicle sped forward, and the driver lost control. The vehicle's wheel ran over the leg of a sleeping Kanwariya, Chandeshwar Paswan, severely injuring him. The injured Kanwariya and other devotees stated that they were resting late at night when the accident happened. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene immediately after the incident. Fellow Kanwariyas rushed the injured person for treatment. They believe that if others had not moved away in time, more than two dozen Kanwariyas could have been victims of the accident. All the Kanwariyas are reportedly residents of Jafrpur village in Paru block.

The incident raises significant questions about how a Dial 112 vehicle ended up in a lane reserved for Kanwariyas. Turki police station officials stated that they received information about a devotee being injured by a police vehicle on the Kanwariya path. The injured person is receiving treatment. The Dial 112 vehicle involved in the incident and the concerned police officer are being identified. The police have assured that appropriate action will be taken as per rules after the investigation, emphasizing that such negligence will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
