मुजफ्फरपुर जिले में दहेज के लिए एक नवविवाहिता की हत्या का सनसनीखेज मामला सामने आया है। मनियारी थाना क्षेत्र के एक गांव में बाइक नहीं मिलने पर ससुराल वालों ने कथित तौर पर बहू की हत्या कर दी और फिर साक्ष्य मिटाने के उद्देश्य से शव को जला दिया। इस मामले में पुलिस ने त्वरित कार्रवाई करते हुए मृतका के ससुर और भैंसुर (पति का भाई) को गिरफ्तार कर लिया है।
जानकारी के अनुसार, मृतका की पहचान सीतामढ़ी जिले के बथनाहा थाना क्षेत्र निवासी शिवजी महतो की पुत्री पूजा कुमारी (20) के रूप में हुई है। पूजा की शादी मनियारी थाना क्षेत्र के एक गांव में विजय महतो के पुत्र रवि महतो के साथ दो साल पहले हुई थी। शादी के बाद से ही ससुराल वाले लगातार दहेज में बाइक की मांग कर रहे थे। मांग पूरी न होने पर पूजा को प्रताड़ित किया जाने लगा।
मृतका के पिता शिवजी महतो ने बताया कि उनकी बेटी पूजा को ससुराल वाले लगातार प्रताड़ित कर रहे थे और दहेज में बाइक की मांग कर रहे थे। उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि उनकी बेटी की हत्या कर दी गई और फिर शव को जला दिया गया ताकि अपराध का कोई सबूत न बचे। शिवजी महतो ने मनियारी थाने में अपने दामाद रवि महतो, ससुर विजय महतो, भैंसुर (पति के भाई) समेत चार लोगों के खिलाफ नामजद प्राथमिकी दर्ज कराई है।
मामले की गंभीरता को देखते हुए मनियारी थानाध्यक्ष ने तत्काल कार्रवाई की और जांच शुरू की। पुलिस ने बताया कि प्रारंभिक जांच में दहेज हत्या की बात सामने आ रही है। पुलिस ने मृतका के ससुर और भैंसुर को गिरफ्तार कर लिया है और उनसे पूछताछ जारी है। मुख्य आरोपी पति रवि महतो अभी फरार है और पुलिस उसकी गिरफ्तारी के लिए छापेमारी कर रही है। पुलिस ने यह भी बताया कि शव के अवशेषों को फॉरेंसिक जांच के लिए भेजा गया है ताकि मौत के कारणों और शव को जलाने के पीछे के मकसद का पता चल सके। इस घटना से इलाके में हड़कंप मच गया है और लोग दहेज प्रथा के खिलाफ सख्त कार्रवाई की मांग कर रहे हैं।

When the demand was not met, Pooja was subjected to harassment.
Pooja's father, Shivji Mahto, lodged an FIR at Maniari police station, naming his son-in-law Ravi Mahto, father-in-law Vijay Mahto, and brother-in-law, among others. He alleged that his daughter was murdered and her body was subsequently burned to conceal the crime. The Maniari Station House Officer initiated an immediate investigation, leading to the arrest of the father-in-law and brother-in-law. The primary accused, husband Ravi Mahto, is currently absconding, and police raids are underway to apprehend him. The police have also sent the remains of the body for forensic examination. This incident has caused a stir in the area, with calls for strict action against dowry practices.
