Muzaffarpur: A gold chain worth approximately ₹7 lakh belonging to a JDU leader was reported stolen during a welcome ceremony for Bihar Health Minister Nishant Kumar in Muzaffarpur. The incident occurred at Sakri Chowk, under the Turki police station area. The victim, JDU leader Rajesh Mandal, has filed a written complaint at Turki police station, prompting an investigation by the police.

According to information, JDU workers and local leaders gathered at Sakri Chowk to welcome Health Minister Nishant Kumar upon his arrival in Muzaffarpur. As the minister's convoy stopped, a large crowd surged forward to garland him and present bouquets. Amidst this rush, Rajesh Mandal, a JDU leader from Ladaura village in Kurhani block, also stepped forward to garland the minister. It was during this commotion that his 34-gram gold chain went missing from his neck.

Rajesh Mandal stated that he realized his chain was gone after the welcome ceremony concluded and the crowd dispersed. He estimated the chain's value to be around ₹7 lakh. A video of the incident has also surfaced, showing Mandal frantically searching and asking people about his chain on the road after the minister's convoy had passed.

Turki Station House Officer (SHO) cum Sub-Inspector Sentu Kumar confirmed that an application regarding the missing chain has been received from JDU leader Rajesh Mandal. The police are seriously investigating the matter. Authorities are reviewing video footage from the welcome ceremony and CCTV camera footage from around Sakri Chowk to identify suspects and recover the chain.
