A Janata Dal (United) leader in Muzaffarpur recently met with the District Magistrate to highlight crucial issues concerning ration cards. The leader urged the DM to reopen the ration card portal, which is currently closed, preventing new applications and denying benefits to eligible individuals. Many deserving citizens are unable to obtain ration cards due to the portal's closure, consequently missing out on essential government schemes.

Furthermore, the JDU leader demanded that a thorough verification process be implemented before any name is removed from a ration card. He pointed out instances where names are deleted without proper justification or verification, leading to sudden discontinuation of food grains for affected families and causing significant distress. He emphasized the need for transparency and fairness in the verification process to ensure no eligible person is unnecessarily deprived.

During the meeting, the JDU leader also apprised the District Magistrate of other public grievances in the region, including hurdles in the implementation of government schemes and local difficulties faced by the populace. He expressed hope that the DM would seriously consider these demands and ensure prompt action to provide relief to the general public. Ration cards are vital documents for the poor, providing access to food security and other government benefits, making their smooth operation paramount.
