Police have intensified their search for the absconding in-laws in connection with the suspicious death of newlywed Khushboo Kumari in the Brahmpura police station area of Muzaffarpur. Following a court order, Brahmpura police, led by SDPO Town-2 Binita Sinha, affixed a notice at the three-story house of the accused in Gyanlok Mohalla on Thursday. The police used a drum (dugdugi) to gather a crowd and publicly warned the two absconding accused to surrender before the court. Failure to do so will result in further legal action, including the attachment of their property.

The incident occurred in Gyanlok Mohalla, located on Sanjay Cinema Road within the Brahmpura police station area. Khushboo Kumari was married on June 21, 2025, and tragically died under suspicious circumstances just six months later in December. Her body was found on the bed in her in-laws' room. Upon learning of the incident, her family members arrived at the scene, and her brother filed an FIR at Brahmpura police station on December 26. The FIR accused her husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and other in-laws of killing Khushboo for dowry.

Police arrested Khushboo's husband, Sudhanshu Kumar, from Sitamarhi and sent him to judicial custody. However, the mother-in-law and father-in-law have been absconding since. SDPO Town-2 Binita Sinha stated that one accused has been arrested, while two remain at large. A notice has been affixed to their house as per court orders. Police clarified that if the accused do not surrender to the court even after the notice, further legal proceedings for property attachment will be initiated. Efforts are also underway to arrest the absconding accused, and police are investigating other facts and evidence related to the case.
