An 18-year-old agriculture student, Mahak, died under suspicious circumstances at the Kamala Girls' Hostel of KK University in Beraunti Nepura, Deepnagar police station area, Nalanda district. Mahak, a fifth-semester student from Saharsa, was found dead in her hostel room. While the incident is initially being treated as a suicide, discussions within the university campus and the college administration's handling of the situation have raised several questions. Police are investigating, and an FSL team has collected forensic evidence from the scene.

According to campus discussions, Mahak had been under considerable stress for the past two to three days and was frequently seen crying. Shortly before the incident, she was reportedly heard arguing heatedly with someone on the phone, leading to speculation that she was grappling with a serious personal issue that she had not shared. Police have also summoned a student from the Ganga Boys' Hostel, believed to be a close friend of Mahak and her roommates, for questioning.

On the day of the incident, Mahak did not attend classes, while her two roommates went to college. Around 2 PM, Mahak's room was locked from the inside. Approximately two and a half hours later, at 4:30 PM, when the door was opened, she was found deceased. Her roommates were reportedly very distressed and moved to another room after the discovery.

The incident has also raised concerns about the hostel's management and the college administration's role. Mahak's relatives allege that the college initially informed them of her severe illness, only to call back half an hour later with news of her death. Shravan, Mahak's cousin, stated that she had a normal conversation with her parents just a day before and showed no signs of distress or suicidal tendencies. The family has accused the college administration of negligence and attempting to conceal information.

Sadar DSP-1 Amarnath stated that the exact cause of Mahak's death is yet to be determined. The FSL team has gathered evidence, and police are questioning hostel students, the warden, and Mahak's friend. The body has been sent to Pavapuri Hospital for post-mortem examination. A comprehensive investigation, including call detail records and the post-mortem report, is expected to reveal the true cause of death.
