The administration in Narkatiaganj, West Champaran, has adopted a strict stance regarding incomplete construction work under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) and Chief Minister Awas Yojana. In a review meeting chaired by Block Development Officer (BDO) Suraj Kumar Singh on Monday, instructions were given to issue notices to 37 beneficiaries. The BDO made it clear that no leniency would be shown towards those who show negligence in house construction.

The meeting expressed concern over approximately 142 houses sanctioned between the financial years 2016-17 and 2020-21 that remain incomplete. Additionally, in the financial years 2024-25 and 2025-26, 36 houses remain unfinished despite beneficiaries receiving the third installment, and 17 houses are incomplete after receiving the second installment. One house under the Chief Minister Awas Yojana is also incomplete. The administration has taken a firm stand on all these pending constructions.

The BDO instructed that notices be immediately issued to beneficiaries who have not completed the construction work. Furthermore, directions were given to re-verify the new list prepared after the verification of the survey list and to identify and promptly remove the names of ineligible beneficiaries and those with pucca houses included in the list. He warned that negligence at any level in this work would not be tolerated.

BPRO Vivek Arya, Housing Supervisors Kumar Sumit and Sushil Kumar, along with all rural housing assistants, were present at the review meeting. The administration aims to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive housing on time under these schemes and that public funds are utilized properly.
