In a significant operation, police in Naubatpur, Patna, have recovered illegal firearms and live ammunition from a youth's house. The accused, Rupesh Kumar, a resident of Kala Bhagwanpur village, has been arrested for possessing illicit weapons. The raid was conducted late Sunday night based on confidential information.

Naubatpur Station House Officer Manjeet Kumar Thakur stated that during a police patrol, they received intelligence that Rupesh Kumar had hidden illegal weapons in his house. Acting on the tip-off, a police team, along with armed forces, cordoned off Rupesh's house and initiated a search operation. During the raid, police discovered a country-made pistol (desi katta) and five live cartridges in a wooden box. Additionally, a desi pistol, a magazine, and five more live cartridges were recovered from a tin box. All seized weapons and ammunition were immediately confiscated by the police.

Danapur SDPO 2 Amarendra Jha informed media in a press conference on Monday that Rupesh Kumar was interrogated after the recovery of the weapons. A case has been registered against him under the Arms Act, and after completing the necessary legal procedures, he has been sent to judicial custody. Police are now investigating the source of these illegal weapons and the purpose for which they were intended to be used. This arrest is expected to help curb the illegal arms trade in the region.
