The District Council Pond, developed at a cost of ₹2.5 crore near Jammunia Math premises in Jamunia Panchayat, Nautan block, West Champaran, was inaugurated by Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar. Speaking at the ceremony on Saturday, the minister stated that the government is prioritizing development work in rural areas alongside urban centers. He emphasized that the Jamunia pond has been developed as a rural tourist destination, which will provide facilities for local residents to enjoy the natural environment with their families and children.

The minister added that the development of such sites will promote tourism in rural areas and offer better places for recreation and public amenities. He noted that the development of ponds and public spaces is transforming the image of villages. The Jamunia pond has been made attractive with various facilities, benefiting local residents and those from surrounding villages.

West Champaran MP Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal and Valmikinagar MP Sunil Kumar also praised the project. Dr. Jaiswal said it presents a new picture of rural development, while Sunil Kumar called it a significant achievement for the region, providing a better place for entertainment as well as social and cultural activities.

District Council member Manoj Kumar informed that approximately ₹2.5 crore was spent on the beautification of the pond. Paver blocks and attractive plants have been installed around it. The complex features an 'I Love Jamunia' selfie point, a children's park, and a 90-foot-high national flag, which has become a major attraction for youth. Additionally, solar lights, Chhath Ghats, seating arrangements, and a passenger waiting area have been constructed around the pond. He expressed hope that this site would become one of the region's main attractions in the future. The inauguration ceremony was attended by MLC Shivrani Devi, JDU District President Shatrughan Prasad Kushwaha, and several other public representatives and dignitaries.
