For the past ten years, residents of Nawada city have been grappling with persistent waterlogging issues, and their patience has finally run out. On Monday, residents of the Bhadauni and New Area localities staged a strong protest by blocking a road to voice their anger against this severe problem. Protesters obstructed the Nawada-Jamui main road and chanted slogans against the local MP and MLA. They accused their elected representatives of only appearing during election times and forgetting public issues once they win.

The protesters highlighted that even slight rainfall leads to waterlogging in homes and streets in several neighborhoods like Bhadauni and New Area. This situation has persisted for a decade, making daily life extremely difficult. Waterlogging disrupts commuting, increases the risk of diseases, and severely impacts daily routines. Children face difficulties going to school, and the elderly find it hard to step out of their homes.

Local residents stated that they have repeatedly appealed to the administration and public representatives for a solution, but have only received assurances. They alleged that elected officials do not even visit the area after winning elections and ignore their problems. They demanded a permanent solution, including proper drainage systems and regular cleaning of sewers. They warned of a larger agitation if concrete steps are not taken soon.

Upon receiving information about the road blockade, local police and administrative officials arrived at the scene. They tried to pacify the protesters and assured them of a solution. Officials stated that they would bring the issue to the attention of relevant departments and public representatives and strive to find a remedy as soon as possible. However, the protesters insisted on an immediate solution and demanded to meet their representatives to present their grievances.
