Aurangabad: Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) Atri MLA Rainit Kumar and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Sanjay Kumar visited Obra on Wednesday. During their visit, both leaders paid tribute to 'Bihar Kesari' Dr. Srikrishna Singh, the first Chief Minister of Bihar, by garlanding his statue at the memorial site.

Following the tribute, the leaders met with local citizens and party workers in Obra to discuss contemporary social and political issues of the region. Subsequently, MLA Rainit Kumar and BSP leader Sanjay Kumar proceeded to Surkhi village in Obra block. At the historic Thakurwadi temple in the village, a special religious ceremony and community feast (bhandara) were organized to celebrate the 'Chhathi' of Lord Krishna. Both leaders offered prayers at the Thakurwadi and later partook in the prasad alongside other devotees. Villagers warmly welcomed the leaders with traditional attire and greetings.

Addressing the gathering at Thakurwadi, MLA Rainit Kumar expressed his gratitude to the villagers, stating that such traditional, religious, and social rituals serve to unite all sections of society and strengthen mutual brotherhood. He thanked the villagers for their affection and blessings, which allowed him the good fortune of receiving Lord Krishna's Chhathi prasad at Thakurwadi. The MLA also thanked BSP leader Sanjay Kumar for inviting him to Obra, providing an opportunity to pay homage to Dr. Srikrishna Singh and interact directly with the villagers of Surkhi.

BSP leader Sanjay Kumar explained that the program to partake in the Chhathi prasad with the MLA at Thakurwadi was arranged at the special request of Surkhi villagers. He emphasized the continuous need for such dialogues to ensure the comprehensive development of the region, address public grievances, and strengthen social harmony. Prominent attendees included Abhishek Kumar, Ravi Pandey, Srikant Pandey, Rangesh Sharma, Guddu Kumar, Arvind Kumar, and Diku Kumar, along with a large number of villagers and local dignitaries.
