The 13th Youth Bihar State Basketball Championship 2026 recently concluded successfully in Bhagalpur, with teams from 27 districts across the state participating. The four-day tournament, organized under the aegis of the Basketball Association of Bhagalpur, took place at the Bahadurpur Basketball Court in Barari Panchayat, under the Sabour block.

Over 500 players, coaches, and technical officials from 17 boys' and 10 girls' teams showcased their skills during the championship. After intense competition, Patna's team emerged victorious in the boys' category, with Saran as the runner-up and Gaya securing the third position. In the girls' category, Gaya was crowned champion, while Muzaffarpur was the runner-up and Patna finished third.

The championship was inaugurated on August 27th by Bhagalpur MLA Rohit Pandey and Pirpainti MLA Murari Paswan, among other dignitaries. At the closing ceremony, MLA Rohit Pandey and Barari Panchayat Mukhiya Jaykaran Paswan jointly honored the winning and runner-up teams with trophies and medals. Mukhiya Jaykaran Paswan expressed his delight at hosting a state-level tournament in Barari Panchayat, calling it a privilege for the entire community.

During the event, the official website of the Basketball Association of Bhagalpur was also launched, aiming to provide digital information to players across the state. The association further announced that Bhagalpur will host the 'Senior Bihar State Basketball Championship' in November 2026. This marks the third major state-level tournament organized in Bhagalpur in the last three years.
