Hilsa/Nawada: The SIT formed to investigate the murder of Pranay Bharti alias Piyush in a shooting incident in Hilsa on September 1 has achieved a major breakthrough. Jackie Kumar, son of Shravan Singh and a resident of Hilsa Panchugarh, who is the main accused in the case filed by the second party, has been arrested by the SIT from Kolkata. Jackie's arrest is considered crucial for the investigation of the case.

Meanwhile, amidst increasing police pressure and potential attachment of property, two other named accused in case number 508/26, Soldu Kumar of Nardiganj and Raja Patel of Hilsa Teli Tola, surrendered in court on Thursday. Earlier, the main accused in the same case, Neeraj Kumar alias Karu Don, had surrendered in court on September 5.

On September 1, a violent clash and firing between two groups in Hilsa resulted in the death of 22-year-old Pranay Bharti alias Piyush, son of teacher Manish Bharti. Based on the application of the deceased's father, Manish Bharti, Hilsa Police Station Case No. 508/26 was registered, naming 15 people including Neeraj Kumar alias Karu Don, Chandan alias Puchadi, and Akhilesh Kumar as accused. In this case, with the surrender of Neeraj alias Karu Don, Soldu Kumar, and Raja Patel, and the arrest of injured Chandan and Akhilesh during treatment, a total of five accused have been sent to jail so far.

Conversely, Hilsa Police Station Case No. 515/26 was registered based on the statement of Chandan alias Puchadi, the injured party from the second group, naming Jackie Kumar, Golu, and others as accused. According to the police, Jackie has been arrested from Kolkata and sent to jail. Following Jackie's arrest, the police stated that action is ongoing in both cases filed by both parties. The SIT is also conducting raids in neighboring states in addition to Bihar to apprehend the absconding accused in both cases. The police administration has initiated legal proceedings for the attachment of property against the absconding accused. According to the police, notices and proclamations were duly pasted on the houses of absconding accused including Chunchun Kumar of Odisha, Ankit Kumar of Baliyari, and others from Bagodar, Baliyari, Bhadseni, and other locations on Thursday.
