Under the TB-Free India campaign, food baskets containing nutritional supplements were distributed to 26 TB patients at the District Tuberculosis Center in Purnia. This initiative was part of the Nikshay Mitra scheme and was organized with the support of a hospital located on Postmortem Road. Civil Surgeon Dr. Pramod Kumar Kanojia and District Communicable Disease Control Officer Dr. Tanveer Haider guided the program.

Addressing the event, health officials emphasized the critical role of improved nutritional levels, alongside regular medication, for the successful treatment of TB. The primary objective of the Nikshay Mitra scheme is to engage capable individuals and organizations from society to provide continuous nutritional support to patients, thereby accelerating their recovery process. Doctors and health workers present at the event also counselled patients and their families on the importance of adhering to medication, maintaining a proper diet, and not discontinuing treatment prematurely. Furthermore, an appeal was made to other sections of society and private institutions to come forward and become Nikshay Mitras, extending support to more TB patients.
