Purnia: A major accident has occurred in the Amour block of Purnia district, Bihar. A gravel-laden Hyva truck plunged into the Parman River while attempting to cross the Dagrakhat bridge. The incident took place when the truck, despite heavy vehicles being prohibited, tried to cross an old and dilapidated iron bridge. The bridge suddenly collapsed in the middle of the river, submerging the truck completely.

According to local residents, despite high water levels in the river, the driver and helper managed to escape safely. However, there is still uncertainty regarding the driver's exact condition, as some claim he swam to safety, but no one explicitly witnessed him emerging. Upon receiving news of the incident, the BDO of Amour block, Circle Officer, and Station House Officer rushed to the scene.

The collapse of this bridge has severed connectivity for approximately 80-85 villages along the route from Khatahath to Ashani village. This bridge was a crucial mode of transport for the residents of these villages, and its destruction will cause significant hardship, especially for medical emergencies and students commuting to schools and colleges. The sudden accident has caused a stir in the area.

Villagers have appealed to the administration to either repair the bridge immediately or arrange alternative routes for travel. The Amour BDO stated that an SDRF team would arrive at the spot, and only after their inspection would it be clear if anyone was trapped inside the vehicle. It is difficult to comment on the situation until the search operation is complete. The administration has become active at the local level to normalize the situation.
