In Raghunathpur, located in Brahampur block of Buxar district, the ground reality of the Swachh Bharat Mission and Swachh Lohia programs tells a different story. The main road leading to the historic Mahakaleshwar Temple at Tulsi Ashram is currently covered in piles of garbage. During the holy month of Sawan, a large number of devotees visit the temple daily for 'Jalabhishek' and worship, but they are forced to navigate through dirt, garbage, and foul odors to reach the temple.

The Tulsi Ashram area holds significant religious and historical importance. During Sawan, the footfall of devotees at the Mahakaleshwar Temple increases considerably. Despite this, garbage has accumulated in various places along the main road. Due to a lack of cleaning for a long time, the piles of waste are growing, causing inconvenience and foul smells for commuters and devotees.

Social activist Shailesh Ojha questioned the government system, stating that under the Swachh Lohia program in Raghunathpur, a solid waste processing unit was constructed at a cost of over 7.30 lakh rupees. Sanitation workers have also been appointed and are paid regular salaries. Yet, if garbage continues to accumulate on the roadside, it raises serious questions about the entire waste management system. Locals believe that while the government formulates schemes, spends money, and provides resources in the name of cleanliness, the lack of on-ground monitoring and regular cleaning is undermining the entire system. The failure to improve sanitation even during the month of Sawan reflects poorly on the local administration's functioning.
