A significant theft has been reported in Rajauli market, Nawada district, where an unidentified thief made off with a gold locket worth one lakh rupees. The incident occurred at a jewelry shop located at Gandhi Chowk in Rajauli, causing a stir in the area. The shop owner immediately informed the Rajauli Police Station, who have since initiated a swift investigation into the matter.

According to the information received, on Monday around 12 PM, an individual entered the jewelry shop posing as a customer. He requested to see gold lockets. The shopkeeper displayed several lockets, and the accused expressed interest in one. Under the pretext of examining the locket more closely, he took it in his hand and suddenly ran out of the shop. By the time the shopkeeper realized what was happening and attempted to apprehend him, the thief had vanished into the crowded market.

Following the incident, the shopkeeper promptly notified the local police. Rajauli Police Station in-charge, Darbari Chaudhary, stated that upon receiving the complaint, a police team arrived at the scene and commenced investigations. The police have begun scrutinizing CCTV footage from the shop and surrounding areas. The accused's image has been captured on CCTV, and efforts are underway to identify and arrest him based on this evidence. Police have assured that the accused will be apprehended soon, and the stolen locket will be recovered. This daylight theft raises concerns about security in Rajauli market, creating an atmosphere of fear among traders and customers. The police have also assured increased patrolling in the market.
