Rajauli block in Nawada district is witnessing a significant surge in patients suffering from cold, cough, and high fever following a sudden change in weather. This has heavily impacted the Outpatient Department (OPD) of the 75-bed Sub-Divisional Hospital, where the daily patient count has exceeded 400. On Monday, long queues were observed outside the registration counter, doctor's chambers, and diagnostic laboratory from the morning, leading to a bustling atmosphere throughout the hospital premises.

According to doctors, viral infection cases tend to increase during weather transitions. Patients are arriving for treatment with symptoms such as high fever, cough, weakness, and body aches. In response to the growing number of patients, a team of doctors, including Dr. Dilip Kumar, Dr. Shyamnandan Prasad, Dr. Jaiprakash Bharti, and Dr. Mukesh Kumar, are continuously engaged in providing treatment in both the OPD and indoor wards. Patients are being advised to take medication on time and exercise caution.

Physicians also recommend that high fever should not be treated merely as a common viral infection. If the fever persists for an extended period or other symptoms appear, patients are advised to undergo tests for diseases like dengue, malaria, and typhoid, as per medical consultation. Many patients reaching the hospital have reported significant discomfort due to fever and weakness. Doctors have also cautioned patients against self-medication and advised them to get adequate rest and consume plenty of fluids.
