Raksha Bandhan, a symbol of the unbreakable bond between brothers and sisters, will be celebrated with great fervor on Friday across Rajaun block in Banka district and the rest of the country. On the eve of the festival, until late Thursday evening, sisters flocked to the markets in Rajaun and surrounding areas, engaging in extensive shopping for Rakhis, new clothes, and sweets. This year, the impact of inflation was clearly visible in the markets. Rakhis were sold at high prices ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 150-200 in Rajaun's markets, and sweet prices were also considerably higher due to increased sugar costs. Despite the inflation, the enthusiasm of sisters to adorn their brothers' wrists and maintain the sweetness of the festival remained undiminished. Bustle continued late into the evening in all rural markets, including Rajaun, Punsia, Nawada, Bamdev, Rajawar Mor, and Dhouni Hat.

Meanwhile, in celebration of Shravan Purnima, the Jhulanotsav, which began on Ekadashi, is also at its peak in various temples, including Chedi Lal Chawarkhani Thakurbari in Rajaun market and the ancient Thakurbari in Khaira village. At these locations, idols of Lord Shri Radha-Krishna and other deities are being swung on attractively decorated swings with silken threads amidst devotional bhajans and kirtans. Regarding the auspicious time for the festival, scholar and storyteller Phani Bhushan Pathak from Khaira, citing the Mahavir Panchang, stated that the Shravan Purnima Tithi will last only until 9:18 AM on the 28th. Therefore, for devotees observing a special मुहूर्त, tying Rakhi from sunrise until 9:18 AM will be most auspicious. However, due to the Udayakaleen Purnima, general devotees can celebrate Raksha Bandhan throughout the entire day.
