Severe waterlogging has occurred at Baijnathpur Chowk in the Saharsa Nagar Nigam area after the first spell of rain. This situation has arisen due to incomplete drain construction work, causing immense trouble for commuters. The chowk now resembles a 'swing pool'. The drain construction work has been stalled for several months. Due to the incomplete construction, dirty water has accumulated at the chowk, spreading mud everywhere. The path has become extremely difficult for pedestrians.

Many two-wheeler riders have slipped and met with accidents due to waterlogging and mud. Local shopkeepers stated that the situation worsens during the rainy season. The stagnant dirty water on the road and the foul smell emanating from it are increasing the risk of diseases. School children and the elderly are facing particular difficulty in commuting. Waterlogging is temporarily cleared with the help of tankers, but no permanent solution to this problem has been found yet. Deep resentment prevails among the local public regarding this situation. Local residents have demanded that the administration and Nagar Nigam complete the drain construction work as soon as possible to find a permanent solution to this serious problem.
