A heartbreaking incident has emerged from Saharsa district, where a 21-year-old BA student died by suicide by hanging herself in her home in Kosi Colony, under the Sadar police station area. The incident occurred when all her family members had gone to the railway station. Upon receiving the information, Sadar police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation.

The deceased has been identified as Pooja Kumari, daughter of Ratan Mukhia, a resident of Kosi Colony. Pooja was a first-year BA student at a college in Saharsa and was the youngest of four siblings. Her father, Ratan Mukhia, works as a clerk in the irrigation department, and the family resides in a government quarter of the Water Resources Department in Saharsa. Their ancestral home is in the Patarghat police station area.

Reportedly, Pooja's brother and brother-in-law were returning to Saharsa from Delhi, and all family members had gone to the railway station to pick them up. During this time, Pooja was alone at home. It was then that she allegedly used a dupatta to hang herself from a bamboo support in her room. When the family returned with relatives, they found Pooja hanging, causing immense shock and grief. The cries of the family attracted neighbors to the scene.

The family is in deep shock and currently unable to comment on the matter. According to local sources and rumors, Pooja was reportedly in a love affair with a young man from Saharsa. It is suspected that she might have taken this extreme step due to some dispute or mental stress. However, the police have not officially confirmed this and are investigating all angles.

Sadar police inspected the crime scene, collected evidence, and took the body into custody for post-mortem examination at Saharsa Sadar Hospital. According to police officials, the case primarily appears to be a suicide. The exact cause of death will become clearer after the post-mortem report. Police are recording statements from family members and neighbors and are meticulously examining the deceased's mobile call detail records (CDR) and other technical evidence to uncover the truth behind her death.
