A 45-year-old man was brutally beaten to death in the Vibhutipur police station area of Samastipur district, allegedly due to an old rivalry. His body was discovered in a paddy field on Monday, causing a stir in the locality. The deceased has been identified as Bhikhari Sada, a resident of Gangoli Manda Ward No. 4.

The incident reportedly occurred late Sunday night between Sona Chowk and Plus Two High School Gangoli. According to family members, Bhikhari Sada had left home for some work and was last seen at Sona Chowk in the evening. It is alleged that on his way back home, assailants ambushed him, severely beat him, and left him for dead. After the murder, the culprits reportedly dragged the body towards an orchard to dispose of it but abandoned it in a paddy field before fleeing.

On Monday, when Bhikhari Sada's mobile phone was found switched off, his family and villagers began searching for him, eventually finding his body in the field. Upon receiving the information, a police team led by Station House Officer Sunil Kumar Jha arrived at the scene and thoroughly inspected the body. Police have taken custody of the body for post-mortem examination and have initiated further proceedings.

Family members stated that Bhikhari Sada had an ongoing dispute with an individual, which had escalated significantly. Previously, the police had intervened, bringing both parties to the station and facilitating a compromise. Sub-Inspector Vishal Pratap Singh reported that an abandoned motorcycle was seized near Plus Two High School Gangoli, and police are gathering information related to it. The police are currently investigating the motives behind the incident and searching for the perpetrators.
